1. Who we are
OpenFix (“OpenFix,” “we,” “us,” or “our”) is a home-services connection service operated by Starrman LLC, available through AI assistants and at getopenfix.app. You tell your assistant what needs fixing, and OpenFix connects you with a local pro in one of two ways: we give you a number that reaches a local pro in OpenFix’s partner network who serves your ZIP, or we name one participating company that can contact you.
We share your information only when you ask us to. When you ask OpenFix to connect you and agree to the disclosure shown in your assistant, we record your request and consent. For a direct-number connection through our partner network, we give you a service-specific number to call without sending your contact details ahead. For a company named to you, we send your request to that company and to no one else. Our partners pay OpenFix for qualifying connections, which is how OpenFix stays free for you. We do not employ the pros who help you, and we do not sell your personal information.
This Privacy Policy explains what we collect, how we use it, with whom we share it, how long we keep it, and your choices.
2. Scope
This policy applies to:
- Use of OpenFix through AI assistants (MCP / connector experience)
- Visits to https://getopenfix.app
- Related emails or support messages you send us
It does not govern the privacy practices of AI assistant platforms, of our website host, of our partner network or the pros in it, or of a company that contacts you about your request. Those parties have their own policies.
3. Information we collect
3.1 Information you provide
When you ask OpenFix to connect you, we may collect:
- Contact: your first name, phone number, and email address if you provide it. In supported assistants, you enter missing contact details on the OpenFix card before choosing whether to agree. The card sends those fields to OpenFix when you agree.
- Your request: the trade (plumbing, HVAC, appliance repair), your description of the problem, its urgency, and the timing you’d like
- Location: the service ZIP code and any city and state you provide for the work. If you start with a city, the card collects the service ZIP before agreement. We don’t ask for your street address. If you include it in your description, we handle it like the rest of your request.
- Consent records: your agreement to the disclosure shown in your assistant, when you agreed, and the disclosure version and its exact text
- Support content: messages you send to support@getopenfix.app
3.2 Information from AI assistant / connector session
When you use OpenFix through an AI assistant, we receive only what the assistant, or the OpenFix consent card shown in it, sends to OpenFix’s tools for your request:
- The details listed in 3.1
- A session identifier that expires after 30 minutes
- Which assistant the request came from, such as ChatGPT, Claude, or Muse
We don’t receive your assistant account, your conversation history, or your contacts, and we don’t ask AI assistants for them.
OpenFix’s tools send back to your assistant only what your request needs: your description and the service type, urgency, and ZIP code detected from it, the city and state you named, any safety guidance, whether we can connect you, who would receive your request, the disclosure to show you, a reference number and status for your request, and for a call-now request, the number to call and whether the call went through. They don’t send back your contact details.
3.3 Technical data
On getopenfix.app we may collect standard web logs: IP address, browser type, device type, referring URL, pages viewed, and approximate location derived from IP. We keep website analytics minimal, don’t use advertising cookies, and don’t sell browsing data.
OpenFix’s servers use IP addresses only to prevent abuse. We keep them as short-lived, one-way hashed counters, separate from your request.
3.4 Information we do not seek in v1
- Payment card numbers (we do not charge consumers)
- Social Security numbers
- Precise continuous GPS tracking
- Biometric identifiers
4. How we use information
We use personal information to:
- Connect you with the recipient you choose: our partner network for a call-now request, or the one company named to you
- Obtain and record your consent before sharing your phone number for calls
- Operate, secure, and debug the OpenFix API, consent store, and website
- Comply with law, respond to lawful requests, and enforce our terms
- Confirm connections with the recipient, for example whether your call went through
- Improve coverage and quality (e.g., which ZIPs/trades we support) using aggregated or de-identified insights where practical
- Communicate with you about your request, consent, or support tickets
We do not use your information for advertising, build profiles about you, add you to marketing lists, or use it to train AI models.
5. How we share information
5.1 The recipient you choose (at your direction)
OpenFix records your request and consent when you ask it to connect you and agree to the disclosure shown in your assistant. What happens next depends on the connection you chose:
- Call now through our partner network. For the direct-number connection, OpenFix records your request and consent and gives you a service-specific number to call. It does not send your contact details to the network ahead of that call. The network handles intake when you call and connects the call to a service company serving your area. OpenFix does not place the call. The partner network reports back basic call records, such as the call date, length, and status, which we keep to confirm the connection. We store only the last four digits of the calling number from those records.
- A company named to you. We send your request to the one company we showed you before you agreed, and to no one else. That company may call you about this request, subject to the disclosure you accepted and applicable law.
The recipient pays OpenFix for connecting you. We don’t send your request to anyone else, we don’t share it again later, and we don’t sell it. Our partner network, the pros in it, and participating companies are independent businesses that handle what they receive under their own privacy policies.
5.2 Service providers
We use service providers that process data on our behalf: Fly.io for application hosting, Supabase for our database, and Vercel for this website, plus email and uptime-monitoring services. They may use the data only to provide services to us.
5.3 Legal and safety
We may disclose information if required by law, subpoena, or court order, or if we believe disclosure is necessary to protect rights, safety, or integrity of users, OpenFix, or the public.
5.4 Business transfers
If we are involved in a merger, acquisition, or asset sale, personal information may transfer as part of that transaction, subject to this policy’s commitments where practicable.
5.5 What we do not do
- We do not sell your personal information, share it for targeted advertising, or give it to data brokers.
- We do not share your request before you agree to the disclosure shown in your assistant, or with anyone other than the recipient you chose.
- We do not use your information to build profiles or to train AI models.
6. Consent and calls (TCPA)
OpenFix is designed so that sharing your phone number for calls about your request requires your prior express written consent (as defined under the Telephone Consumer Protection Act and related rules), captured in your AI assistant with a clear disclosure.
There are two versions of the disclosure: one for a call-now request through our partner network, and one for a company named to you. Both are published at https://getopenfix.app/tcpa.
You may revoke consent by contacting support@getopenfix.app and by asking any caller to stop calling you. Revoking OpenFix consent stops new sharing from us. It does not delete data that our partner network, a pro, or a company already received. Tell us, and we will pass your request on to our partner network. You can also contact a pro or company directly.
7. Retention
| Data type | Typical retention |
|---|---|
| Consent records (who agreed, when, and the exact disclosure text) | At least 5 years or longer if required for TCPA defense |
| Requests you asked us to send, and call records from our partner network | Up to 24 months unless longer needed for disputes |
| Support emails | Up to 24 months |
| Website server logs | Up to 90 days |
| Abuse-prevention counters (one-way hashed) | Removed automatically after they expire |
When retention ends, we delete or de-identify data, except where the law requires us to keep it longer.
8. Security
We use administrative, technical, and organizational measures appropriate to a small production system: encrypted transport (HTTPS/TLS), a database that encrypts stored data at rest, access-controlled storage for consent and request records, operational logs that leave out your contact details, least-privilege credentials for partner integrations, and monitoring for abuse. No method of transmission or storage is 100% secure.
9. Minimum age (18+)
OpenFix is only for adults 18 and older. We do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 18. If you believe we have, contact support@getopenfix.app and we will delete it.
10. U.S.-only service; state rights
v1 is offered only in the United States. Depending on your state (e.g., California, Colorado, Virginia, Connecticut, Utah, and others), you may have rights to access, correct, delete, or opt out of certain processing, and to appeal a denied request.
To exercise rights: email support@getopenfix.app with the subject line “Privacy Request” and enough detail to verify your identity and locate your records. We will respond within the time required by applicable law. You can also use our data deletion and privacy choices pages.
Sale and sharing: We don’t sell your personal information or share it for cross-context behavioral advertising. When you ask OpenFix to connect you with our partner network or with a company named to you, you are directing us to disclose your request to that recipient so it can help you, and the recipient pays us for the connection. We treat this as a disclosure you direct, not a sale. You control it in your assistant: nothing is shared unless you agree. See your privacy choices. We honor Global Privacy Control signals on getopenfix.app.
11. Third-party sites and AI assistants
AI assistant platforms, our partner network, and the pros and companies you are connected with have their own privacy notices, which this policy doesn’t cover.
12. Changes
We may update this policy. Material changes will be posted at https://getopenfix.app/privacy with a new “Last updated” date. Where required, we will obtain fresh consent.
